Materials / Re: Kyanite in clay bodies

20% kyanite in a clay body fired in a Raku kiln makes it virtually indestructible.
Kyanite reduces the shock that takes place when the claybody goes from 1800 degrees to room temp when you pull it with tongs from the kiln.
A simple clay body for raku is hawthorne bond 50#, ball clay 50#, goldart 50#, kyanite 35#.

No relationship Ray, I just saw it on Facebook and ordered one for me.
I like to confuse the people in the car behind me.

There's a feature on etsy for contacting the maker. Ask her if she's willing to branch out into shirts. She should probably contact Bailey's and Axner Pottery to see if they want to sell them on their websites...

Tools and Equipment / Potter's wheel table pics
« on: August 10, 2015, 05:43:52 PM »
I saw a potter's wheel table on Pinterest.  The link to the person who made the one in the first image is here.

I'm setting up a new studio space for myself this summer and decided to build one of these tables because I am not a fan of the small table at the front of Brent wheels - I wanted more room. The corner brackets are called Simpson Strong-ties and you can find them in the wood department at Home Depot.
